The 2011 Fremantle Heritage Festival is just around the corner and promises to be the best one yet. It runs from Friday 27 May to Sunday 5 June. Events are being organised by the Fremantle Society, the Fremantle History society, and other organisations.
- 27 May: Songs & Stories with Bernard Carney. Come to Fremantle Town Hall and hear stories and songs from Bernard’s 4 decades in the WA music industry. After the break Bernard will be joined by David Hyams and friends to perform songs from his new CD. Friday 27 May from 7:30pm.
- 28 May: Patching up St Pats with Alan Kelsall who explains the recent restoration work on Saint Patrick’s Basilica. Saturday 28 May 3:00pm at the Basilica.

- Open Heritage Doors. See inside some of Fremantle’s finest buildings. 5 venues will be open for an hour with a short talk. Sunday 29 May from Noon till 5:00pm.
- John Dowson and Rob Campbell will visit Lunatics and Artists at the Fremantle Asylum. Sunday 29 May at the Fremantle Arts Centre. Starts 11am
- 31 May: Heritage QandA (based on the TV show of the same name) will be held in Victoria Hall from 7:00pm on Tuesday 31 May. Be entertained and enlightened as a panel of experts answer questions on a broad range of heritage topics.
- 1 June: The Making of Montessori will reveal how Greg James has captured the spirit of the founder of Montessori schools. Wednesday 1 June at Greg’s J Shed Studio from 6:45pm
- 2 June:
- Discover Fremantle’s Underbelly. Ron Davidson will tell the story of Kate & Shiner in the Special Handling Unit of Fremantle Prison. Thursday 2 June at 3:15pm.
- The Fremantle & East Fremantle Awards will be held in B Shed on Victoria Quay. Thursday 2nd June from 7:15pm.
- 3 June: Come on the Fremantle Club Crawl, starting at the Hicks Building at 3:30pm on Friday 3 June. You will discover four Clubs that are the backbone of Fremantle’s cultural heritage.
- 4 June: Don’s Tram Tours are back by popular demand. Don will show and tell the buildings that simply would not exist if it were not for the Fremantle Society. Starting from Fremantle Arts Centre at 3:00pm and 4:00pm on Saturday 4 June.
