He was exerted by the police mailman to Perth to face certain charges. At one of the roadside camps he shot the Policeman KNIBBS feb 1855 (grave still marked on Perth- Albany Rd) He was convicted of murder and was detained in Fremantle Lunatic asylum for the rest of his life.
