Prospect House was a two-storey residence on the corner of Adelaide and Point streets, built in 1886 and demolished in 1967. The location is 33 Adelaide Street.

It was built for Captain William Jackson. The Jackson family lived there until 1897. Later it became a boarding house, the home of a music teacher, a doctor's surgery, and was converted into flats.[1]

Note the unusual design of the veranda extending over the public footpath on Point Street.

Catherine Cleary (b.1831) and Captain Jackson had six children including Mary Anne (from his first marriage), Catherine (1854–59), Annie Mary (b.1856), William Dockray (b.1858), Maud (b.1863) and Thomas (b.1865).

As a master mariner, Captain Jackson made numerous voyages to Tasmania and Singapore. He was a pilot at Rottnest from 1857 and appointed Superintendent of the Island from 1867-1885.

He owned a number of Fremantle properties in Adelaide Street, Beach Street and Queen Victoria Street. "Prospect House" was built for the Jacksons in 1886 and remained their family home until 1897 shortly after the Captain's death.
