'John Henry Barfield was a soldier of the AIF during WWI. He was captured in 1917 and remained a prisoner of war at Limburg an der Lahn in Germany, until the end of the war. He returned to live in Fremantle and died in 1952. Barfield Place in Beaconsfield is named in his honour.
