ORIENT No. 4 LODGE MINUTES OF MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17th, 1914
The lodge room at the P & O Hotel, High Street Fremantle was consecrated in Antidiluvian form by Sir Hubert Partridge CP KOM in the presence of the largest attendance of "Buffs" ever known in W.A. After the ceremony the lodge was duly and legally opened by Knight Partridge with a link of 49 knights, primos and kangaroos.
Apologies for non attendance were received from primos KC. Prater and Sargent and Bros Birch, Brown and Dunn.
The following brethren then became joining members of this lodge - Bro J.G, Nathan, Orient No. 3; Primo Oldfield, Orient No. 3; Bro T. A. Cameron, Orient No. 3; Bro J. Gray, Orient No. 3; Sir A. Hope, Orient No. 3; Bro Sands, Orient No. 3; Bro Axford, Orient No. 3. Knight Runnalls, G. Devonshire Lodge England; Primo G. Upjohn, Orient No. 3; Bro Greenwood, Orient No. 3; Bro T. Gibson, Orient No. 3; Primo J. Evert, Orient No. 3; Primo G.E. Plater, Orient No. 3; Bro Betts, Orient No. 3; Primo Brunton, Orient No. 3; Bro McLerie, joining member.
Moved Primo Brunton, seconded Bro Appleby that the aforesaid apologies be accepted - Carried.
The founders of the lodge were — Hubert Partridge CP KOM, R.C. Harrison CP, J.C. Plater CP, Bro Paul Reichardt.
The Loyal Toast was then drank together with the declaration for the success of this lodge.
Proposed and seconded that Primo Workman, Thomas Valley Banner, England; Bro Jackson, Edward Anderson Lodge, Jarrow, England become affiliated to this Lodge and Order - Carried.
Initiations - Kensit introduced by Bro S. Sparrow; Carter introduced by Bro F. Newton; Parry introduced by Bro L. Herbert were duly read in by Kt Partridge assisted by the Officers and Brethren with a link of 60 Good and Trues after which the signs and passwords WELe YAPIMtE tm them, They then werked their way into the lodge in a thorough Buffalo-like manner amidat the hearty applause of all present. Knight Partridge then made a few remarks on the conduct of the Lodge and manner of giving the various charges and said that as representative of Grand Lodge he intended to see that they were properly carried out.
Proposed Primo Brunton seconded Bro Axford that Bro Kensit be appointed waiter for ensuing three months - Carried.
Proposed Primo Brunton seconded Bro Greenwood that waiters salary be 21/~ per quarter - Carried.
Proposed Bro Greenwood seconded Bro Appleby that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to our host Bro Reinhardt for the trouble and expense he had been to to make the Lodge so comfortable and for his kindness in advancing the funds necessary to start same - Carried with musical honours.
Proposed Bro Gibson seconded Primo Brunton that the accounts presented by the Secretary be passed - Carried.
Proposed Primo G.B. Plater seconded Primo Brunton that a Primo Fund be started - Carried.
Proposed Bro Greenwood seconded Bro Axford that a Relief Fund be started - Carried.
Bro Axford here reported that Bro Gosden was in hospital and that he was progressing favourably and sent his congratulations to the lodge.
Primo Harrison on behalf of "Orient No. 3" Lodge then passed the Loving Cup around and the health of No. 4 was heartily drank with musical honours.
The following Brethren contributed excellent harmony - Primo Linguard, Bros Wessell, Greenwood, Cole, Cook, Bertram, Hoggett and Gray.
Proposed Bro Greenwood seconded Bro Nathan that the acting officers continue in office until the end of next month - Carried.
Proposed Bro Greenwood seconded Bro Axford that the Lodge be extended 15 minutes - Carried.
Proposed Bro Greenwood seconded Bro Axford that the host be elected Treasurer ~ Carried unanimously.
The Lodge was then closed by Kt Partridge with a link of 59 Brethren.

This Lodge later became Fremantle Orient No. 2 under Grand Council of Australia in July 1931.
Bro Reinhardt was the first Bro passed to the second degree on the 29th July, 1914.
25th Ociober 1914 Lodge moved from P & O Hotel to Commercial Hotel.
