February has landed — Perth’s hottest month, and the Club just got air conditioning. Yes, you read that right. Cool drinks, cool spaces, and finally, cool air. What a time to be a member!

January treated us well with some absolute rock ‘n’ roll carnage. Legends like Doctopus, Peter Bibby, and Surf Shop Cops stormed through the Club, laying down riffs, chaos, and all-around good times. If you missed it… well, shame on you.

But February? Oh, February is shaping up. Think more bands, long hot nights, film screenings, fashion shows, and a big touring act all the way from over East. And as always, the most important thing? Catching up with your mates at the bar, swapping stories, and making the Club feel like the wild, wonderful community it is.

After a little break, our Club Calendar is back online — the ultimate guide to everything happening at the Club. Check it out here.

Our ever-curious History Sub-Committee has been digging through old letters and correspondences from members this month, and what a trip down memory lane it’s been. These dusty relics speak of a time when we were a little more stitched together — a bit scrappy, a bit cheeky, but always a club that cared.

Among the finds: a letter ratting someone out for stealing a glass (classic), and a beautifully heartfelt note from a departing member, thanking the Club for the camaraderie. Every piece is written on personal letterheads, in elegant cursive — the kind of handwriting that makes you want to bow respectfully before the paper.

Maybe there’s a lesson here: look out for each other, be proud of the community we’ve built, and treasure the strange, wonderful mess that is our Club.

Also — a friendly warning. If you spot anyone tagging the newly painted bathrooms upstairs, alert a staff member immediately. The Old Buffalo Order still lurks upstairs, and they have ways of dispensing their terrifying, ancient justice. Consider yourselves warned.

Zane, Oli, Bec and AJ work on something new for the Club

Shout-outs and Call-outs

Call-outs – we’re on the hunt for:

  • Lemons or limes
  • Stools – extra seats for the legends who always show up.
  • MDF flooring panels – 800mm wide, any length will do. Help us keep the floors looking sharp!

Thanks & Praise – because heroes deserve recognition:

  • Bruna Chiovitti – for two beautiful retro stools that have instantly upgraded our Club’s style points.
  • Michael Tucak – for the Coffee Machine, keeping everyone caffeinated and happy.
  • Michael – for all the general maintenance magic that keeps the Club running smoothly.
  • Rori – for cleaning snooker and pool cues, and basically being a general all-around legend.
  • Zane, Oli, Bec, and AJ – for their hard work on the new counter ledge.

Keep an eye out for ways to help, and never underestimate the power of a good lemon or lime. The Club runs on community… and citrus.

Buffalo Club Makers' Guild

The first meeting of The Maker's Guild was a great success with a handful of members dusting off some old craft projects that had been crying out for some attention.

For those wanting to come to benefit from the power of teamwork, The Maker's Guild will be held on the last Thursday of the month in the Buffalo Club basement. February we are hoping to have a few sewing machines going for those with textile projects.

B.Y.O craft/materials, grab a drink, and have a yarn with us.

Buffalo 54

Buffaloes, mark your calendars: Friday, 19th February, the Club transforms into a runway.

See cutting-edge local clothing in the flesh from some of Perth’s best emerging designers — Curtin Fashion Graduates and Oso Millinery Clothing. Expect bold ideas, fresh styles, and a glimpse at the next wave of local fashion.

Doors open 6:30 PM. Stick around after the show for a DJ-powered after-party. Tickets can be bought here.

Tales from the Toolshed

Cool news, Buffaloes: air conditioning has now been installed in the main bar downstairs! There are still a few finishing touches to go, but don’t worry, the Club stays open for drinking, chatting, and general chaos while the work continues.

Meanwhile, Zane and his crew are putting the final touches on a new counter ledge for the main band room. Soon, you’ll have a perfect spot to rest your beers during band sets. No more precarious balancing acts or frantic dancing spills, just more room to enjoy the music and your mates.

Looking Out for the Buff

As the Club continues to grow and welcome more people through the doors, we’ve also (unfortunately) seen a rise in the occasional shenanigan. That’s the flip side of being a busy, loved community space and it’s something we can all help manage together.

We’re asking members to keep an eye out for each other and for the Club itself. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, or a situation starting to escalate, please let staff know early. Checking in on your mates, being accountable for one another, and backing up staff on the floor goes a long way in keeping the Buff safe, welcoming and running smoothly.

This is your Club. Looking after it, and each other, is in everyone’s interest.

New Committee Role: Women’s Wellbeing Representative

The Committee has introduced a new role at the Buff: Women’s Wellbeing Representative. This role is about creating space for women and non-binary members to be heard, supported, and involved in shaping a Club that’s inclusive, enjoyable and safe for everyone.

Committee member Emma will be available at the Club each Thursday from 5:30–7:30pm for private, confidential chats. These sessions are open to women and non-binary members who’d like to raise concerns, share experiences, or float ideas to help make the Buff a better place for all. A quiet, private space will be provided.

This is a new initiative and we’ll be sharing more details soon. Watch this space.

The Communications Sub-Committee is expanding!

Not only will this sub-committee meet to discuss and develop the club’s

communications, protocols and policies. We are moving with the times whilst looking to have some fun and share with the world what this Club is all about.

If you love the club and its community and are passionate about film, media, photography, content and all things in between, we would love to work with you!

The first official Communications sub-committee meeting for the year will be in early March (date to be confirmed).

Contact Jess at jesshumby@gmail.com to get involved.
