The Fremantle Buffalo Club will host its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 22nd of November at 12pm.
The AGM is not just another gathering at the bar; it is the cornerstone of what makes the Fremantle Buffalo Club unique. Unlike a private venue where patrons are customers, our members are the owners and custodians of the Club’s future.
The AGM represents the living expression of our democratic values. It is where members come together to review the year past, elect the Management Committee, and collectively decide the direction of the Club for the year ahead. This shared responsibility and participation are what sustain the Buff’s independence and community character.
All members are encouraged to attend, listen, contribute, and take part in shaping the Club’s ongoing story. There will be a sausage sizzle on the day, and all members will be entitled to a free middy.
We want to encourage members who wish to take an active role in the club to put
themselves forward for the volunteer management committee. The committee represents the interests of members and supports the club’s volunteers and staff. Please view the constitution on the website for more details on club governance.
Below is a summary of the AGM process over the next few weeks:
Committee Nominations: Committee nomination forms are available from Club staff. Members can nominate by emailing the Club Manager at manager@freobuffclub.org or by lodging the paper form with club staff. Committee nominations must be submitted prior to Wednesday 12th of November, at 11.59pm. If there are not enough nominations to fill the 8 positions, nominations can be accepted from the floor on the day of the AGM. There’s a link to nomination forms at the bottom of this email.
Member Voting: Absentee voting forms for the AGM will be available at the Club and emailed to all members by 9am Monday 17th of November. Absentee votes must be submitted prior to 11.59pm on Friday 21st of November. Absentee voting slips must be filled out with your name, membership number, signature, placed in an envelope and posted in the ballot box in the bar.
Motions Proposed: There will be motions for constitutional amendments to be made at this upcoming AGM. Members will be asked to vote on each. Please see the full list and details on the club notice board once they have been posted.
Agenda Items: Please submit any additional agenda items by 6pm Wednesday 12th of November, if you wish them to be included in the AGM agenda, which will be posted at the Club and emailed to all members on Friday, the 14th of November.
On the Day: The AGM will include short speeches from prospective committee members and a report to membership from the Club Convener. On the day, hard copy financial summaries will be provided to members for the 2024- 2025 financial, as per the club constitution.
Please ensure that your membership is current prior to the date of the AGM. Membership can be renewed at the bar or on our website.
