Tony Baker became the General Manager of Captain Cook Cruises in 1982. He had been involved in Rottnest ferries since the early 70s, operating from Barrack Street in Perth and Forrest Landing and East Street Jetty in Fremantle. In 2019 he published a memoir of his working life.
