Terrazzo Lane was created when High Street turned into a dual carriageway and given sound walls, and a new access road had to be built for the houses between Montreal, Onslow, and Chudleigh Streets and the netball courts at Gibson Park. The lane mostly follows what was formerly the alignment of High Street.
It is named after the Universal Terrazzo Tile Factory that operated in nearby Blinco Street from 1952 until the 1970s. The sound walls of High Street and the Stirling Highway Southern Extension are decorated with patterns referencing those of the terrazzo.[1]
