'Other' Streets
I'll put here any random street name origins I happen to come across until they can be put into some category.
Birkett Street is probably named after Edward Birkett, the original (1829) grantee of a 1000 acre location which abutted the Swan River. The street is mostly in Bedford, but is also Dianella. Birkett's grant continued to the river, but the street does not.
Vincent Street, City of Vincent, 'is believed to be named after George Vincent, the Chief Draftsman in the Lands Department and original grantee of land on the north side, east from Charles Street. He named it after himself on issue of the first Crown Grant of Perth c.1876. The municipality includes the suburbs of North Perth, Leederville, Highgate, Mount Hawthorn, and parts of East Perth, West Perth, Perth City, Mount Lawley and Coolbinia.' The City was named after the Street.
Whatley Crescent leads from East Perth to Bayswater, where Dr John Whatley was the original (1829) grantee of a 1000 acre location which abutted the Swan River in that area. He drowned in 1830.
