(Redirected from Port School)
This unprepossessing door in the building on the corner of Leake and Market Streets was the entrance to the school's first location.

Port School (formerly Port Community High School) is an alternative secondary school which started upstairs in a commercial building in Leake Street in 1992,[1] and then moved to a squash courts building in Carrington Street in Hamilton Hill. Its street address is now 62 Wheeler Road, at more or less the same location. One of the founders was Lois Achimovich, and Kevin Gillan was an early principal.

The school was founded on the principles of Summerhill School in the UK.[1] Kirsty Sadler was the first teacher, when the first students attended from 15 February 1993.[1]

Port School is not far from the Fremantle Christian College, across Carrington Street to the west.
