Ronald “Ron” Davies was an Australian Labor Party politician and Union Secretary who served as a Member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1961. He represented the electorate of Victoria Park during the 24th Parliament of Western Australia (1962–1965).
Elected at a by-election on 26 August 1961, Davies entered Parliament with a background in union leadership and working-class advocacy. During his early parliamentary career he served on the Select Committee on the Fremantle Buffalo Club (Private) Bill (1964),[1] along with Don May.[2]
Davies was Leader of the Opposition from 1978–1981 and remained active in Western Australian politics until 1986. He was a Member of the Order of Australia, awarded 11 June 1990 for service to the WA Parliament and to the community Centenary of Federation Medal 2003.
Ron Davies passed on 24 July 2011 and was laid to rest in Crematorium Rose Gardens at Karrakatta Cemetery.
