THOMPSON, George, b. 1838, d. 1903 (Pt Hedland),[1] (expiree), arr . 29. 5.1863 per Clyde, m. 5.10.1864 (Frem) Mary FLINDELL b. 1837 d. 1895 (Frem), dtr. of Francis Bassett Shenstone & Johanna Elizabeth, who arr. 1.1.1858 per Nile. Chd. George b. 1865 (Frem C/E), Frederick, Emma Isabella b. 1867 d. 1904, Mary b. 1871 d. 1942. Ex solicitor in Eng. Appointed first Town Clerk at Fremantle 1871-4. During 1870s he founded the firm of Thompson, Sendy & Co. merchants & importers. He was also an auctioneer and owner of the Pier Hotel, which he sold to his brother-in-law J.G. Flindell. He employed 3 T/L men 1869, 1872 (machinist) & 1874 (clerk). Visited Singapore 12.3.1875. In 1877 he signed a petition regarding discrimination against expirees. Visited Eng. 24.1.1882.

Thompson Road North Fremantle is named after him in honour of his service as Town Clerk.
