Barbara Lightly
Headmistress of Girton College (formerly the Grammar School) at 200 High St.
Seddon:
Barbara Lightly ... was born in London, emigrated with her parents to New Zealand when she was four, then to Coolgardie where she taught for some years. She was at Girton for over twenty years, and must have been very well liked. Every year, former pupils gathered to celebrate her birthday and on her ninetieth birthday in 1968 she was sent a congratulatory telegram by the Mayor and Councillors of Fremantle. Seddon 2000: 34.
The house at 75 Ellen Street, Girton House, was built in 1890 by Ewald Ulrich and acquired by the Church of England in 1914 to house the headmistress, deputy headmistress, and boarders of Girton College.
