The Fremantle Candidate

2012

How hard would you fight to keep your dreams alive?

"I should have been on a barricade, waving the old red rag for the abolition of money power and the bloody death of capitalism. Was it always a lost cause?"

In 2011 Ingle Knight was the Visiting Scholar at the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library at Curtin University. One outcome of that appointment was his play The Fremantle Candidate.

curtinSet against the background of what seemed like the imminent collapse of the entire global economic system, The Fremantle Candidate is a witty and heart-warming story of a man rising from the ashes to start again.

It received an acclaimed Perth production by Deckchair Theatre in August 2012, and the Premier’s Book Prize for best script.
