GREGORY, Joshua, b. 1792, d. 20.8.1838, arr. 6.10.1829 per Lotus with family, m. (UK) Frances b. 1794 d. 28.5.1859. Chd. Joshua William b. 1815 d. 1850 Augustus Francis b. 1819 d. 1905, Francis Thomas b. 1821 d. 1888, Henry Churchman b. 1823, Charles Frederick b. 1825. Army Captain (on half pay) of 78th Hussars. Granted 8880 acres of which 1000 were selected in Canning district & the rest in Avon district. Bt. Swan Loc K1 "Rainsworth" from Dubois Agett. His sons were active in exploration & survey duties. His widow was left in straitened circumstances. She employed a T/L man 1853 at Perth.

GREGORY, Joshua William, b. 1815. d. 21.9.1850 (E.Perth), son of Joshua & Frances, arr. 6.10.1829 per Lotus. Surveyor for Road Trust 6.1.1841. Member of Agric. Soc. 1841. Found iron ore on family property "Rainsworth" at Middle Swan. Sailed to Champion Bay 8.1849 in party investigating reports of minerals. 1849 wrote notes on Geology of WA.
