William Crossman
William Crossman (1830-1901), an officer in the Corps of Royal Engineers, was supervisor of convicts on public works. He arrived in Fremantle on the Marion 30 January 1852. While resident magistrate in Albany, where he was mainly stationed, he married Catharine Morley in 1855. He left on the Esmeralda 25 February 1856 to return to England where he was later MP for Portsmouth. He died in the Belgravia Hotel.
