COLE, Henry Laroche, b. 1809. d. 19.3.1866 (Albany), arr. 23.8.1829 per Marquis of Anglesea as a seaman (John Cole). m. 15.8.1837 Emma READ b. 1818 d. 3.5.1905 (Perth), dtr. of George & Elizabeth. By 1841 Hotel Propr. "United Service Hotel" Perth: Merchant: Member Town Trust 1848. Chairman Perth City Council 1860s. Prominent in horse racing: Made frequent voyages overseas. Qualified as a juror 1860 with £1000 real estate. Owned Town Lot at Guildford 1852. Perth 1860, Geraldton 1859 & 236 ac. at Champion Bay by 1865. Employed 13 T/L men 1851-1864. Commemorated in 1979 in a brass pavement plaque Perth for year 1858.

In the 1832 Census he is no. 601: aged 25, from Leicester, a lime-burner.
