Booyeembara Park Clubhouse
The new 'clubhouse' for the public golf course - also a community facility building - designed 2020 but not built 2022 - is necessitated by an extension of High Street which required taking some of the golf course land, meaning that everything had to be moved south, especially the original 'clubhouse', which was demolished in 2020.
In 2022 there are a couple of temp buildings provided so that ppl can use the golf course and driving range, because there is no funding available for the clubhouse.
November 2020:
The City of Fremantle is in the process of designing a co-located clubhouse for Fremantle Public Golf Course and community facility on Montreal Street. It is part of the replacement works for the golf course land needed by Main Roads for the High Street upgrade project.
The site will provide amenity for three main purposes:
• a golf clubhouse for the Fremantle Golf Course
• a community centre for the Fremantle community
• a café for the community and users of Booyeembara Park
Key to the success of the facility is its integration with and relationship to the Fremantle Public Golf Course and Booyeembara Park. The building and surrounding landscape designs are being coordinated to ensure an integrated and complementary precinct to support a range of functions and uses now and flexibility for the future.
Last Wednesday the Planning Committee voted unanimously to approve the Fremantle Golf Course Clubhouse and Community Centre — Schematic Design Report, and request officers progress with the detailed design and construction.
It is expected that the design phase will be completed mid 2021, with tenders being advertised thereafter.
December 2020:
Fremantle Council has revealed the latest designs for a new club house and community facility servicing the Fremantle Public Golf Course and Booyeembara Park.
The new building will replace the old club house and community facility that have been demolished to accommodate the upgrade of High Street by Main Roads WA.
This week Fremantle Council approved an amended schematic design report for the new building and authorised City officers to progress with detailed design of the facility.
There will be two separate buildings – the golf club house to the north and the community centre to the south – linked by a common roof. A café in the middle will serve golfers, community centre users and visitors to Boo Park.
The design employs radial curves to maximise access and views to the golf course and Boo Park, with entry into the buildings through series of curved pathways.
Upgraded parking has been included along Montreal Street, and an increased number of disabled bays and a drop off point have been included in the off-street parking close to the building.
The parking along Montreal Street will include traffic calming measures as well as extra-long bays and a path connecting to the facility.
The project is being funded through a contribution from Main Roads, with the City of Fremantle responsible for the design and delivery of the required works.
On Wednesday evening the council voted to request an increased budget allocation of up to $450,000 be included as part of the 2021/22 budget process to accommodate an increase in the size of the community space and to add more flexibility to the building.
Main Roads is also funding the reconfiguration and upgrade of the golf course.
The revamped course is expected to reopen in May 2021, however there may be an opportunity to re-open the driving range earlier.
The new club house and community facility is due for completion in early 2022.
The site in January 2021. The 'grove' of cypress trees has been removed.
Leaving the perimeter stone walls, which will also have to go.
Here are the two lines of olives @ 11Oct2021, with some stones available for ... something. There will be soon be a clubhouse where I'm standing to take the photo.
