Paper Bird is a children's bookshop in Henry Street. It opened in 2016.[1]

Our Vision

A space for kids to discover and create stories.

Having researched and participated in children’s cultural centres across the world, founding Director of Paper Bird, Jennifer Jackson, recognises the value of cities having dedicated arts & literature spaces for children. Bringing children into the inner city through providing dedicated spaces such as playgrounds, and arts centres delivers diversity, a change of pace, a softening of edges, spontaneity and laughter.

Kids arts are generally situated in safe corners of adult arts spaces, if they are given any floor space at all.

Here at Paper Bird we take children’s literature and arts seriously. We give professional writers, illustrators and other artists the opportunity of working directly with kids, as this generates an amazing creative energy and inspiration not only for the kids but for the artists.
