After working in the State's north and travelling across the country he met his wife Lyn at an Irish pub in Perth. They were married in 1973 and lived in Ireland for two years before moving back to Perth.
In 1978, Mr Barry started his 28-year association with Alcoa and lived in the South West, moving into their family home in Australind in 1981.
Most of Mr Barry's life was dedicated to researching and writing about Fenian figures. He wrote or contributed to six books on the topic, including his first on O'Reilly in 1992.
