Kim Beazley Sr. grew up in Fremantle, and first worked as a teacher at Richmond State School in East Fremantle. After John Curtin died in 1945, Beazley won the by-election for the federal seat of Fremantle. He was in office from 18 August 1945 until 10 November 1977, and was succeeded by John Dawkins.
The Kim Beazley School was named in his honour, and after it was closed, a residential street within the redevelopment of the site maintained the name: Beazley Way.
