Josiah Avery was a member of the Corps of Royal Sappers and Miners who arrived in Fremantle on the Anna Robertson in December 1851 (along with 64 other sappers).
He married Elizabeth née Kessel/Kisale/Kissell[1][2] and their children were Josiah William Avery (born March 1853), Edward James Avery (born July 1854),[3] and Rebecca Nancy Avery (born 1857).[2]
