James Rasmussen was secretary of the Lumpers' Union, as well as of the Eight Hours Demonstration Committee in 1899.[1] He was also involved in the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes and the Order of Rechabites. "He lived in East Fremantle for around 10 years but left and returned to Denmark when his wife died in 1899."[1]

He and his wife had twins, Dagma Kirstine and Niels Paul, in 1891.[2][3]
