I am sad to hear about the passing of well-known and well-loved Fremantle musician Greg Hastings.
Freo Farmers Market‘s Kylie Wheatley wrote a very good tribute, which I post below:
Such sad news today about our dear friend Greg Hastings who has passed away. He was larger than life and kinder than most. If he could he was at the market every Sunday. Sunday after Sunday Greg would arrive and start his morning by thanking me for the market. It was incredibly generous of him to do it every week without fail and he would notice new people, new stalls, new music. He befriended and encouraged everyone. He had a story about everything, his best stories were about his Mum and Dad, his beloved daughter or life as a muso. Greg loved life and he valued his connections and his community. He inspired me many times to slow down, listen, and value who was showing up. He was a celebrator, a story teller and a performer. I am feeling for his family, for Linda his sweetheart and dearest friend and the lost of that great smile that felt like a hug on Sundays. A life well lived my friend xxx.
Greg was a wonderful, softly-spoken, kind gentleman. I always enjoyed our many chats when we bumped into each other. Rest well, my friend.
