Bert Leighton was a prisoner at Fremantle Prison from 1903 to 1905. He served two years and nine months hard labour, of a five year sentence, for receiving stolen banknotes. He wrote about his experiences in a series of articles, which were published in book form in 2025 as Secrets of the Prison House.
