Jessee Lee Johns
From his website:
Jessee Lee Johns’ practice is rooted in a DIY philosophy of lowered standards and tactical ignorance that has generated a list of impressive-sounding achievements. Jessee has exhibited extensively outside the gallery system both nationally and internationally. He is the Co-founder and Director of the Contemporary Institute Of Modern Art (CIOMA), an international and pan-temporal art institution with sites in 2015, 2016, Cambodia, 2018 and 2020. Is the caretaker and sole citizen of The Commonwealth of New Bayswater, a small and ephemeral national that has opened its borders in various forms during the Fremantle Biennale in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
In November 2023 Jessee created a Temple of the Commonwealth of New Bayswater 2023 (for the Fremantle Biennale) devoted to the Glorious Beings of Small Favours.
