Amherst Street is a long north-south street running through the eastern side of Fremantle and into White Gum Valley. It starts at Marmion Street and is mainly residential as it passes Forrest Street, Holland Street, High Street, and Blinco Street. Then it borders the old bunkering land, and industrial blocks (part of Monument East.
Named after Josceline Amherst,[1][2] who was in Western Australia for two years from 1885, and was Clerk to the Executive Council and private secretary to the Governor.
