1-3 Suffolk Street is a Victorian Georgian two-storey duplex at the Marine Terrace end of Suffolk Street, built in 1894-95.[1]

The house number was 57-59 until c.1934 (no 3 being 57).[1]

Built for John Bateman, the first tenants were Arthur J. Diamon (manager of P. Falk & Co; later MLA for South Fremantle) and Mrs John Cousins.[1]

Later owners: John Wesley Bateman and Frederick Hollis; Henry Kneebone; and Francis Lancaster and Eliza Jane Taylor. "Ownership of the two halves of the duplex was split approximately in the 1940s. Owners in the 1950s were Elena Amato (1 Suffolk St) and Filipo Tringali (3 Suffolk St)."[1]
